DST Reminder, WGN Show Plug

Hey everybody. I'd like to start off today with a reminder. On Sunday, March 11 which is this coming Sunday, everyone in the US who observes Daylight Savings Time will have to set their clocks ahead one hour, and then turn them back one hour on Sunday November 4. Go to www.bluegrasspals.com/dst.html for more details, those of you using Windows-based computers. I'd now like to let everyone know about an interview which took place on WGN radio here in Chicago. The interview featured Ray Campbell, who is a technician at the newly-acquired computer help desk at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. Ray also sits on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Council of the Blind, and is a former President of ICB. He talked at length about the accessible paper currency decision, and he had a lot of great points. This interview is now archived at www.blindcast.com/ray.m3u . I had the great pleasure of listening to this interview. One other positive was that all callers with the exception of one seemed to be supportive of the decision by Judge James Robertson to make currency accessible. No matter what other people think, our nation's paper currency needs to be made accessible. As was said in the interview, it is just the right thing to do.

My Weekend and Other Tidbits

Hi everyone. I hope you all set your clocks one hour ahead this weekend, or at least those of you who needed to do that. Good, I did too. The little Microsoft tool did exactly what it was supposed to do. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me these time changes are no big deal. I mean, I still go to sleep and wake up as I always do. I have never had sleep problems of any nature, even when I was on dialysis and subsequently received a new kidney. The dialysis machine did its thing throughout the nighttime hours, and I just slept through it all. This of course happened only after I got used to the sensation. I do, however, know many people with sleep problems. But on with the show as they say. This weekend I had the great pleasure of going out to lunch with two current neighbors plus the new neighbor who is about to move in. We had a very nice time together, and the food was great. I had dinner out that evening as well. My life skills tutor took me to his apartment and he and I hung out with his mom. A neighbor of his came and joined us for just a few minutes and then left. But we had an incredibly good dinner. I am always keen to try new things, and this meal was no exception. They made something called schmorn, which can be described as a thick crepe. My tutor had mentioned schmorn one time and I was eager to try it. So I did and found it to be most savory. I spent most of yesterday just hanging out with my roommate and his guide dog at our apartment. My tutor came over last night, and we took a nice walk and then came back to cook last night's dinner plus some meals for the week. Please refer to a future entry about my tutor and how I came to work with him. I'd like to end on a somewhat somber note. Those of you familiar with the rock group Boston might've heard of the sudden passing of Brad Delp. I for one don't know their music well, but I have heard a couple of their hits such as "More Than a Feeling." But I was nevertheless sad to hear this news. Apparently no cause of death has yet been found. What I do know is that Boston was never engaged in any type of drug use. The two articles I read also stated that Brad was one of the nicest guys in rock history.

Just Ramblin'

Hey everyone. It's been several days since I last posted, and there's a reason for that. I seem to have picked up, or maybe that should be my computer seems to have picked up, a nasty and somewhat bizarre virus. I am able to send and receive email and all the Microsoft office programs are working as they should. But I can't go online to look stuff up. Well actually what has been happening is that when I launch Internet Explorer it goes to a default page, but I can't open another website. Nor can I access my Favorites, or download anything. To be honest I'm not entirely sure what caused this problem, but it needs to get fixed in order for me to work online. So I think my whole entire Windows system will have to be reinstalled to get everything back. But I'm not currently technical enough to know how to do all that. So for now enjoy the springtime!
